Something wicked this way comes…

I believe it's high time we start planning for what comes next on this wiki.

First of all, we only have 8 pages and 2-3 editors. This situation must be rectified if this wiki is going to survive. Omniverse Nexus unofficial rules are that a wiki must have at least 100 pages or it can't join the Affiliates. Therefore, if we're going to earn our place in the Nexus, we need to get cracking, page-creation wise. A good place to start would be Rules and Guides. Kray has given us permission to borrow Guides from GC, as was done for ET and IH. What I'd like to know is, what Guides do we want/need, are they compatible with the wiki and should we borrow rules from GC too? If so on the last question, which ones do we borrow? Should we come up with some of the rules on our own, and if so, what should they be?

Secondly, in my opinion, this wiki could do with an overarching storyline. One of the factors, among many, that have made IH far less large-scale is it's lack of a proper Chaos Crisis or Shattering, a big story arc that changed everything forever. Here, I think that planning and instituting one right away could provide a good story hook for new users, give us fuel for backstories and character motivations and give us something to do to increase the page count. The war with the Demons which presumably led to the rise of the Fog could work, but that seems more like backstory than a full-on story arc. We could also have the Demons return as foreshadowed, leading to some sort of war.

Thirdly and lastly, I'm not the most experienced of bureaucrats, so I'd appreciate any advice on how to run the wiki and keep HM alive.

Thank you, and I look forward to your input.

Grrrrr…

Someone's got to do something! What do I do?

I would help with the wiki, but I have no idea what's going on.

What's going on is nothing. I founded this thread so we could decide on something to do. Basically, I think we need to come up with:

a) A proper cosmology and theme

b) An overarching story arc

c) Probably the most important, rules and guides

Do you have thoughts on any of the above? Basically, read my original concept for Hallows Maleficent on GC. What did you first think when you were reading it? What did the wiki seem like to you? Did it make you shiver? Did it send a chill up your spine? Does this wiki scare you?

Horror is hard. Frightening someone without making them feel manipulated takes great skill, and perhaps it wasn't the best genre for me to choose for my first ON wiki. (I wonder if I should've gone with superheroes...) But that now that the wiki exists, we might as well figure out how to make it creepy.

Might've gone a bit off-topic there, but you get where I'm coming from, I think. Before we start adding content, we need a master plan, an idea what to write about, a story worth telling, a world worth showing. We need to find out what the world is, we need to know what happens there and we need to know how to tell those stories. Thoughts?

Well:

a) It seems you already have an overall theme, hallows spread about a foggy death maze, with those inside trying to get power and resources while surviving monsters inside and out.

b) Would probably be best to have some group of heroes unite from all hallows for some greater purpose.

c) Weren't we going to copy most things from GC?

Anyways, I suppose I should make a new race and start making... stuff.

Suggestions?

a) In a nutshell, yes.

b) Problem is, that kind of goes against the point of horror. The thing about horror is there are no true heroes, you can't exactly win and darkness is everywhere. Perhaps there's some kind of semi-heroic faction trying to unite the hallows, but they can't be too powerful. Indeed, travel between hallows is insanely rare and difficult in order to contribute to the vibe of isolation and hopelessness.

What I was thinking was, perhaps those Demons from the backstory return and try to wipe out the remaining hallows? The faction I mentioned above could try to oppose them, but probably at the cost of their lives. In fact, I think that would make a great story arc. We should start working on that.

c) Mostly, yes, but we have to decide what guides to copy. Another thing we should think about is whether we're going to have pitches here.

At the moment, I think we should focus on that Demon War arc. That is, if no one has a better idea for the wiki's main arc. I'm open to suggestions.

I like the idea of the demon war, but maybe we should think more out of the box and have 3 factions opposing eachother?

And I meant protagonists more than heroes.

Good ideas, all. I like the idea of using three factions, though doing so might undermine one or both of the villains. The second villainous faction would probably be something to do with the Fog. The Zombies, perhaps? Or maybe the Reapers, led by Death himself? Hell, why not have the Fog itself be an antagonist?

I wonder if speculation on the main story arc should be a separate thread?
